Job summary

AT&T is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to design, automate, and operate enterprise database platforms across AWS, Outposts, Azure, and hybrid environments. You will drive IaC initiatives, deployment automation, and platform modernization while leading cross-team engineering efforts.

The role requires deep infrastructure expertise, strong software automation skills, and the ability to mentor engineers across multiple organizations. Excellent communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, or cloud platform experience.
• Strong Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code development expertise.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions or equivalents.
• Deep knowledge of AWS services (EC2, IAM, KMS, SSM, VPC, EBS, networking, security).
• Experience designing and supporting Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL database platforms.
• Linux administration and scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
• Strong troubleshooting, observability, and cross-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture reviews and define engineering standards and roadmaps.
• Design and implement IaC deployment patterns and cloud-based database hosting.
• Develop automated provisioning for compute, storage, networking, backups, and security.
• Provide senior escalation support and improve reliability and observability.
• Mentor engineers and coordinate across multiple teams and workstreams.
