Job summary

Highmark Health in the United States is seeking a Data Protection Engineer to implement, maintain, and support the organization’s data protection infrastructure and applications across on‑premises and cloud environments.

You will work with Microsoft Purview, ForcePoint, BigID, Varonis, Windows, Linux, and GKE; configure DLP and DSPM solutions; help design policies and procedures; troubleshoot incidents; and automate tasks with PowerShell and Python in a HIPAA‑compliant setting.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience with Data Loss Prevention.
• 5 years of experience with Information Security and Systems Analysis.
• 5 years of deploying and maintaining infrastructure for DLP software.
• 5 years of creating and managing DLP policies.
• 3 years of experience with at least two programming languages (Python, Java, JavaScript, Bash, PowerShell).
• 3 years designing architectures across GCP, AWS or Azure with at least two providers.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Computer Science or related field.
• Master's degree in Information Security, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Computer Science or related field.
• Advanced cloud provider certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect/Security Engineer).
• Travel required and Office-Based or Remote Position.
• HIPAA/HITRUST, NIST, PCI, COBIT, ISO 27001/2 knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain data protection infrastructure across platforms and vendors.
• Collaborate on design and implementation of data protection solutions for on‑prem and cloud (GCP/AWS/Azure).
• Configure and maintain data protection policies across platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data protection incidents; perform root cause analysis.
• Contribute to projects with testing, implementation, and documentation.
• Automate tasks with PowerShell and Python to support deployment and maintenance.
• Collaborate with team members to expand data protection expertise.
• Stay current with data protection technologies and compliance requirements.
