Job summary

PerfectServe is seeking a senior data platform engineer to own ingestion, modeling, and surfaces across our unified data platform. You will shape architecture with the architecture team, drive ingestion pipelines, and establish engineering standards for data quality and testing.

You will mentor data engineers, collaborate with platform and operations teams on safe data extraction, and work directly with data consumers to ensure analyses answer real questions in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience building and operating cloud data platforms, including one designed from scratch.
• Able to make decisions with incomplete information and assess cost of wrong choices.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake/BigQuery/Databricks).
• Experience with a transformation framework such as dbt and project structuring.
• ELT and change-data-capture across relational sources.
• Experience with AWS (read replicas, object storage, cross-region moves).
• Knowledge of dimensional/medallion data modeling.
• Experience with workflow orchestration and data quality testing (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect).

Responsibilities

• Own the implementation design across the platform—ingestion, modeling, and surfaces.
• Shape the detailed architecture with the architecture team.
• Own integration design across production source systems.
• Build ingestion pipelines from those systems.
• Model raw data into business-ready datasets with one definition per metric.
• Set engineering standards for data quality and testing.
• Collaborate with platform and operations teams on safe, low-impact data extraction.
• Work with data consumers to ensure builds answer real questions.
• Mentor data engineers and help shape their work.
