Job summary

CMG Financial is migrating to a Snowflake-based Enterprise Data Warehouse. A Senior Data Engineer will own end-to-end data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, and governance, while collaborating with security, domain data owners and BI teams. You will mentor engineers and improve testing and automation.

Role emphasizes production pipelines on cloud, RBAC and data masking, with a strong focus on reliability and auditable controls in a regulated financial data environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data engineering with 3+ years on production cloud data warehouses.
• Expert SQL and strong Python for pipelines and platform code with tests.
• Hands-on dbt production experience: modeling, testing, CI and environments.
• Experience with Dagster, Airflow or Prefect and managed ingestion or CDC (Fivetran).
• IaC experience (Pulumi or Terraform) and CI/CD with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Snowflake security depth: RBAC, masking, tags and cost-aware management.

Responsibilities

• Ingestion: build and operate ingestion from on‑premise SQL Server and SaaS sources into Snowflake using Fivetran, CDC, Azure Data Factory and data shares.
• Orchestration: develop Dagster assets, schedules, sensors, checks; migrate legacy jobs to the orchestration platform.
• Transformation: write and review dbt models, tests, seeds and snapshots for Raw, Bronze and Silver layers.
• Platform as code: manage Snowflake as code with Pulumi and Terraform; deploy via GitHub Actions across DEV/QA/UAT/PROD.
• Security and governance: implement role-based access, data masking, and auditable controls for GLBA/FCRA/HMDA.
• Reliability: build checks, alerts and runbooks; identify and fix silent failures before consumers.
• Engineering practice: write ADRs, PRs, and maintain rigorous code review and documentation.
• Collaboration: partner with data owners and BI teams; support SDW-to-EDW migration.
• Mentoring: guide engineers and raise testing, automation and documentation standards.
