Job summary

Synchrony Financial seeks a Senior Data Engineer to lead the data engineering team, building and migrating on-prem data warehouses toward AWS Redshift. You will collaborate with architects, data scientists and product managers in a fast-paced, global Agile setting.

The role requires 4+ years in tech within banking, strong ETL/warehousing knowledge, and hands-on AWS/Redshift experience. Flexibility to travel and work hybrid across locations is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of technology experience in consumer banking OR High School Diploma/GED with 6+ years in technology.
• Experience with large-scale relational databases and public cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Strong ETL, data warehousing, cloud (AWS) and analytics concepts.
• Hands-on with Ab Initio, SQL and AWS Redshift in on-prem and cloud data warehousing.
• DevOps experience with batch and real-time data pipelines.
• Willingness to work with globally located Agile teams across shifts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Understand and manage data needs of stakeholders within a single business vertical.
• Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant data applications on on-prem and AWS for terabytes of data.
• Collaborate with architects, data scientists and product management to shape solutions.
• Lead the team to deliver data solutions meeting business goals and drive improvements.
• Engage in Agile ceremonies with Product Owners and Scrum Masters.
