Job summary

BECU is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and deliver enterprise-grade data solutions on cloud platforms. You will build resilient data pipelines, collaborate with analysts, and drive governance and automation to support analytics and AI-enabled initiatives.

The role requires 5+ years in data engineering, strong SQL/Python/Scala, and experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP. Remote-friendly in the US with HQ collaboration; you will mentor teams and contribute to a culture of engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of data engineering experience.
• 4+ years coding in Python, Scala, Java, or SQL.
• Experience with cloud platforms Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with modern data platforms (Azure Databricks, BigQuery, Snowflake).
• ETL/ELT, SQL, and cloud data integration tools (Airflow, ADF, Cosmos DB, Event Hubs).
• SQL, data modeling, data warehousing, data lakehouse concepts.
• CI/CD with Azure DevOps and GitHub.
• Git version control, code reviews, branching strategies.
• Leadership in design discussions to enable long-term solutions.

Responsibilities

• Leverage AI-assisted tools like GitHub Copilot to boost productivity.
• Partner with security and governance teams to deliver secure data products.
• Communicate complex topics to engineers and stakeholders.
