Job summary

BECU is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and build enterprise-class data solutions that power analytics, governance, and AI-enabled insights. The role focuses on scalable pipelines, cloud-native architectures, and collaboration with data analysts and engineers across teams.

You'll work remotely with a nationwide scope, applying modern data technologies, best practices, and strong coding standards to deliver secure, reusable data products and services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years of functional experience in data engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in coding languages like Python, Scala, Java, SQL.
• Demonstrated experience using cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Demonstrated experience using modern data platforms (Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, BigQuery, Snowflake).
• Demonstrated experience using ETL/ELT, SQL, and Azure Services (Air Flow, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Event Hubs, Azure Storage, Azure Functions, Container Apps, API Management).
• Experience with SQL, data modeling, data warehousing, and data lake/lakehouse solutions.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps and GitHub.
• Experience using Git, code reviews, and Git Flow or Trunk-Based Development.
• Leading design discussions to enable long-term solutions.

• Elevate engineering standards, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Improve reliability and observability of pipelines and systems.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to boost productivity and code quality.
• Partner with architecture, governance, security, and platform teams.
