Job summary

McKinstry in Seattle is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Manager - Data Center Construction to lead preconstruction activities for major data center projects. You will develop estimates, budgets and schedules, align with design teams, and guide clients with clear, proactive communication.

This role requires 10–20+ years in project management or construction, a construction degree, OSHA 10, and strong knowledge of MS Project or Primavera.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 10–20+ years of experience in project management, engineering or construction.
• OSHA 10 certification required.
• Scheduling software: MS Project, Primavera and/or SureTrak.
• Experience on large data center projects.
• PE, CPM, LEED designations preferred but not required.
• MS Office suite proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Basic estimating skills required.
• RCDD or CPM designation preferred.
• Experience with construction financial programs and accounting concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction management for a portfolio of data center projects and optimize budgets and schedules.
• Develop conceptual budgets and scope letters from plans; support sales with proposals.
• Coordinate with design teams and project managers to ensure smooth transition to construction.
• Maintain accurate forecasts, risk management, and client communications.
• Review contracts and change orders; prepare subcontracts and purchasing agreements.
• Mentor team members and lead department improvement initiatives.
