Job summary

Trane is seeking a Data Center Field Service Engineer to join our Data Center Services Team. This senior role involves travel across North America to support data center cooling infrastructure, diagnose complex HVAC systems, and perform startup, troubleshooting, and repair with OEM equipment.

A strong background in large-tonnage chillers and mechanical/electrical diagnostics is essential. You will be part of a team delivering reliable, efficient cooling for commercial clients, with comprehensive

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in the HVAC industry, including mission-critical, large-tonnage, or complex chiller environments.
Strong knowledge of thermal cooling systems, including air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, pumps, hydronic systems, cooling towers, and related equipment.
Hands-on experience with startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of mission-critical cooling equipment.
Experience with screw and centrifugal compressor technologies in demanding operating environments.
Ability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues affecting cooling system performance.
Familiarity with commissioning processes and performance verification.
Experience with OEM brands such as Trane, York, Carrier, Daikin, Vertiv, Liebert, Stulz, Johnson Controls.
A 2+ year degree, technical certification, or equivalent HVAC training preferred.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel 75%+.

Responsibilities

Support customer operations during planned deployments and active service assignments.
Assist with system performance evaluations, root cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
Maintain complete service records, field reports, and related documentation.
Follow safety policies, site requirements, and regulatory standards.
Communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
Travel across North America as needed for assignments.
Perform startup, troubleshooting, repair, and operational support for data center cooling equipment.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues affecting performance.
