Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Controls Engineer in Columbus, OH, to lead the design, specification, and integration of BMS and EPMS controls for data center retrofit projects. You will bridge mechanical/electrical design with controls integration and optimize monitoring across the fleet.

You will collaborate with FRE engineers and operations teams, develop design standards, and support data analytics initiatives to improve energy efficiency and reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings and specs.
• 2+ years of HVAC, control programming concepts, and power distribution knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls design and integration for retrofit projects across the data center fleet.
• Develop and maintain controls design standards, specs, and SOW documents.
• Collaborate with FRE teams to deliver integrated controls solutions.
• Serve as central technical authority for BMS/EPMS within FRE.
• Perform controls design reviews and identify optimization opportunities.
• Coordinate with controls vendors on bid reviews, RFIs, and code reviews.
• Develop control sequences of operation and network architecture for retrofit apps.
• Interact with AWS cloud services to support data reporting and energy optimization.
• Provide escalation management to maintain project timelines.
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed.
