Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Controls Engineer to lead the design, specification, and implementation of BMS and EPMS controls for data center retrofit projects. You will bridge mechanical/electrical retrofit design with controls integration and ensure monitored, controlled, and optimized systems across the fleet.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including data centers or similar.
• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering, or 5+ years of equivalent experience with BMS/EPMS.
• 2+ years of experience with data center or mission-critical facility control systems (BMS/EPMS).
• 2+ years of HVAC systems, control programming concepts, low voltage electrical systems, and/or power distribution.
• Ability to read, interpret, and create construction drawings, control diagrams, and submittals.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls design and integration for retrofit projects across data centers with BMS and EPMS focus.
• Develop and maintain controls design standards, specifications, and SOWs for fleet remediation.
• Collaborate with FRE engineers and operations to deliver integrated controls solutions.
• Serve as central technical authority for BMS/EPMS controls within FRE and manage scope.
• Perform controls design reviews, identify risks, and optimize monitoring and automation strategies.
• Coordinate with controls vendors on bid reviews, RFIs, drawings, and MOPs.
• Develop control sequences of operation and network architecture for HVAC and power retrofits.
• Interact with AWS cloud services and data analytics for reporting and energy optimization.
• Anticipate risks and provide escalation to keep projects on schedule.
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed for site surveys and commissioning.
• Provide engineering judgments for legacy systems with limited documentation.
