Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Controls Engineer for the Fleet Remediation Engineering (FRE) team to design, specify, and implement BMS/EPMS controls for data center retrofit projects.

You will bridge mechanical/electrical retrofit design with controls integration, ensuring upgraded systems are monitored, controlled, and optimized across the fleet. Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation, or related environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field, or 5+ years of equivalent experience in BMS/EPMS design and deployment.
• 2+ years of experience with data center or mission-critical facility control systems, including both BMS and EPMS platforms.
• 2+ years of experience with HVAC systems, control programming concepts, low voltage electrical systems, and power distribution.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls design and integration for mechanical and electrical retrofit projects across the data center fleet, ensuring BMS and EPMS are specified, programmed, and commissioned.
• Develop and maintain controls design standards, specs, and SOW documents for fleet retrofit projects.
• Collaborate with FRE engineers, construction teams, commissioning, and operations to deliver integrated controls solutions.
• Serve as central technical authority for BMS/EPMS within FRE, managing scope across retrofit projects and capacity recovery.
• Perform controls design reviews, identify risks, and optimize monitoring and automation strategies.
• Coordinate with controls vendors and programmers on bid reviews, RFI support, and drawings.
• Develop and review control sequences of operation, diagrams, and network architecture for retrofit applications including HVAC and power modifications.
• Interface with AWS cloud services and data analytics platforms to support reporting and energy optimization.
• Anticipate roadblocks, provide escalation management, and keep projects on schedule.
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed for site surveys and commissioning.
• Provide engineering judgment for legacy systems with limited documentation.
