Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Texas seeks a Data Center Chief Engineer to manage critical facility systems across AWS data centers, including electrical, mechanical, chillers, UPS and fire/life safety equipment.

You will lead Engineering Operations Technicians, perform root cause analysis, set standard practices, and coordinate with Facility Managers and vendors to ensure safety, reliability and efficiency.

This role requires travel between data centers and on-site work as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Microsoft Office products experience.
• 3+ years of mission critical facilities experience including industrial electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary escalation point for facilities-related issues and oversee operation of critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, chillers and building monitoring systems.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot facility issues within SLAs.
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and work with Facility Manager to set team culture.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams.
• Assist in building out new facilities and projects to increase facility efficiency.
• Occasionally work outside normal hours for maintenance and respond to out-of-hours emergencies.
