Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to oversee electrical, mechanical, and life-safety systems across AWS data centers.

You will lead maintenance, incident response, and serve as the technical focal point for onsite engineers and vendors. The role requires a TS/SCI clearance, willingness to travel between sites, and the ability to operate under strict safety and security standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years data center or mission critical facilities experience.
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel experience.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for facilities issues and oversee routine and emergency services on critical systems.
• Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot facility issues within SLA.
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with the Facility Manager.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor teams.
• Assist in the building out of new facilities and projects to increase efficiency.
• Work outside normal hours for routine maintenance and respond to emergencies.
• Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
• Coordinate projects with IT managers to optimize safety, performance, reliability and efficiency.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and staff.
• Establish building performance benchmarks and prepare reports.
