Job summary

Databricks seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer in California to work with customers to design and productionize data and AI solutions on the Databricks platform. You will own the architecture, lead design decisions, and implement end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development.

This hands-on, customer-facing role requires strong coding in Python, Scala, and JavaScript/TypeScript, deep Spark expertise, cloud experience, and the ability to translate complex concepts

Qualifications

• 6+ years in data engineering, data platforms or software engineering.
• Strong coding skills in Python, Scala or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with distributed data processing and Spark runtime internals.
• Comfortable working with cloud ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade solution delivery including reference architectures and data ingestion.
• Guide transformational big data projects from design to deployment.
• Own architecture decisions ensuring security and scalability.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer teams to meet requirements.
• Embed with customer teams and provide rapid product/issue feedback.
