Job summary

Databricks in San Francisco is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to design and productionize data and AI solutions on the Databricks platform. You will own the architecture, lead design decisions, and implement end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role focused on delivering with empathy, building scalable references, and training teams to maximize value from data and AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in data engineering, analytics, or software engineering.
• Proficient in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with two or more cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Deep experience with Apache Spark and knowledge of runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments and ML/AI model workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade customer projects and deliver reference architectures, data ingestion, and model integration.
• Guide transformational big data projects from design to deployment with stakeholder input.
• Architect secure, scalable solutions aligned with Databricks best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer teams to ensure successful engagements.
• Provide feedback to product/support teams and help scale accelerators and best practices.
