Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network seeks a Mental Health Crisis Intervention Specialist to provide comprehensive crisis assessment and coordinate admission/referral decisions in the Emergency Department and Walk-In Center.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years direct clinical mental health/crisis intervention experience.
• Experience with case management/utilization review or managed care models preferred.
• Education/licensure must meet stated requirements for position.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments for patients with mental health needs in the ED or Walk-In Center.
• Make referral recommendations to appropriate level of care.
• Coordinate with care teams (physicians, APs, BH staff) to facilitate referrals/post-acute placement.
• Serve as liaison for other hospital/network sites and support patient flow.
• Demonstrate understanding of mental health regulations and patient rights in admission status.
• Assist with staff orientation and crisis de-escalation where needed.
• Support utilization management for pre-certification of intakes and consults.
