St. Luke's Health Network, Inc.

is seeking a mentally skilled crisis intervention professional to provide comprehensive assessments and coordinate admissions for patients presenting with psychiatric symptoms in the Emergency Department and Walk-In Center. You will work with physicians, advanced practitioners and BH staff to determine appropriate levels of care, while ensuring compliance with mental health regulations and patient rights.

Qualifications

• Minimally, 1 year of direct clinical mental health/crisis intervention experience required.
• Understanding of mental health regulations and patient rights.
• Experience with case management/utilization review and managed care models preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts intake assessments for mental health needs in the Emergency Department and Walk In Center with referral recommendations.
• Interacts with care teams to facilitate referral decisions and placement for patients.
• Acts as liaison for other hospital/network sites and supports requests from patient care areas.
• Demonstrates knowledge of Mental Health regulations and admission status (voluntary/involuntary).
• Demonstrates skill in verbal de-escalation; may require restraints in agitation/violence cases.
• Supports utilization management pre-certification for all intakes and consults.
• Monitors the therapeutic environment as necessary.
• Other related duties as assigned.
