Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking a Mental Health Crisis Intervention professional to provide comprehensive crisis intervention and coordinate admissions for patients in the Emergency Department and Walk-In Center.

The role includes intake assessments, care coordination across hospital teams, and liaising with BH staff to ensure appropriate placement and access to services. Education options include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in human services with related experience.

Qualifications

• Mental health professional with a minimum of one of the following education paths.
• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field and 2-6 years of equal job experience.
• Master’s degree in a human services field and 1-3 years of equal job experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive crisis intervention and coordinates admission/referral for patients and families.
• Supports access to Behavioral Health Services across the network.
• Intakes assessments for patients in the Emergency Department or Walk-In Center and refers to appropriate level of care.
• Collaborates with physicians, advanced practitioners and BH staff to facilitate referrals and placement.
• Acts as liaison for other hospital sites to support patient care across the network.
• Follows Mental Health regulations related to patient rights and admission status.
• Maintains competency in assessment, treatment planning and age-appropriate care.
• Responds to agitation/violent behavior with de-escalation and, if needed, restraints.
• Supports utilization management and pre-certification processes for intakes and consults.
• Monitors therapeutic environment as required.
