Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking a Mental Health Crisis Intervention professional to provide comprehensive crisis assessment and coordinate admission/referral for patients and families in the Emergency Department and Walk-In Center.

The role supports other hospital services, maintains knowledge of Mental Health regulations, and acts as a liaison across network sites to facilitate appropriate placement and care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a human services field with 2–6 years equal job experience
• Master's degree in a human services field with 1–3 years equal job experience
• Master's degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments for mental health needs in the Emergency Department or Walk-In Center and refer to appropriate level of care
• Coordinate with physicians, advanced practitioners and BH staff to facilitate referral decisions and patient placement
• Serve as a liaison for other hospital/network sites and support requests regarding patients with mental health needs
• Maintain knowledge of Mental Health regulations and patient rights in admission status (voluntary/involuntary)
• Demonstrate skill as a member of the Control Team in responding to agitation/violent behavior and in de-escalation techniques
• Support utilization management for pre-certification of intakes and consults
• Monitor the therapeutic environment as necessary
• Perform other related duties as assigned
