Job summary

Valley National Bank in Saint Petersburg, Florida seeks an experienced Loan Underwriter to support underwriting, approval, and portfolio management processes. You will coordinate with loan officers and staff to prepare comprehensive credit packages for approval, monitor risk, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

The role involves reviewing credit packages, underwriting complex loan requests, and assisting in quarterly reporting and site visits as needed.

Responsibilities

• Proactively communicates with Loan Officers and Credit Portfolio Managers during underwriting, approval and portfolio management processes.
• Review and circulate credit packages and modifications for approval. Ensure packages are updated as required by approvers.
• Underwrite complex new loan requests and modifications.
• Coordinate with Commercial Loan Officers, Loan Officer Assistants and Direct Reports to complete credit packages.
• Complete performance evaluations, reviews and approves timecards for direct reports.
• Prepare effective packages for credit approval circulation and present packages to the required level of credit authority.
• Obtain and monitor loan portfolio reports such as Maturing Loans, Past-Due Loans, Annual Reviews and assist lenders with action plans.
• Ensure credits are accurately risk rated and properly monitored and reported.
• Adhere to Regulation B Adverse Action Procedures — Florida Division.
• Create and maintain current BSA Information.
• Adhere to watch list and EDD procedures.
• Manage and track covenants, borrowing bases, A-R Ageing, etc.
• Assist in preparation of quarterly CLMR reports.
• Advise Lenders on matters related to Bank's Credit Policy and Procedures/Forms.
• As time allows conduct annual site visits, attend loan closings and other tasks for lenders.
