Job summary

Valley National Bank is seeking a skilled credit professional to underwrite and structure loan transactions, including renewals and amendments. You will participate in client meetings, advise on credit policy and risk appetite, and perform thorough due diligence to support timely credit approvals.

You will monitor ongoing portfolio performance, ensure covenant and collateral compliance, and prepare essential reports.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites and structures new and existing loan transactions, including renewals, extensions, increases, and amendments.
• Participates in client meetings and internal deal discussions; advises on credit policy, loan structures, and risk appetite.
• Conducts due diligence and analysis; prepares credit presentations and secures appropriate credit authority approvals.
• Monitors portfolio compliance and reporting, including financials, covenants, collateral, and annual reviews; coordinates site visits as needed.
• Validates reports (financial statements, collateral appraisals, engineering reports) to verify compliance and escalates issues as necessary.
• Ensures credits are accurately risk rated, monitored, and reported; supports quarterly portfolio monitoring and specialized reports.
• Contributes to portfolio management projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
