Job summary

affirm is seeking a Senior Counsel, Capital Markets to lead broad-based capitalization strategy efforts. The role requires expert understanding of financing, with the ability to guide US and international capital markets transactions, including bank partnerships, lending structures, and related securities laws.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience, a JD, and strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant law-firm experience; in-house fintech experience preferred.
• JD degree from a well-regarded law school; US state bar in good standing.
• Experience with structured and/or debt finance, lending, securitizations.
• Demonstrated integrity, business judgment, and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise and support capital markets in expanding sources and strategies, incl. international expansion.
• Advise and support bank partnerships in expanding origination and card issuing banks.
• Lead financing transactions or bank partner initiatives from strategy to closing.
• Draft and negotiate all US/international capital markets deal documents.
• Demonstrate knowledge of lending and securities laws for capital markets transactions.
• Provide clear, timely legal advice and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Act as main legal contact for capital markets/bank partnerships projects.
