South Carolina Department of Corrections seeks a supervisor to plan and direct security operations, overseeing inmate custody and building security in a medium/maximum facility. You will ensure staff performance, OSHA compliance, and routine unit checks.

You will also participate in inmate counts and investigations, with mandatory SCDC Basic Training and supervisory coursework within six months of hire.

Qualificações

• High school diploma and three years' experience in correctional, security, military, or police work with one year in a supervisory role.
• A degree in criminal justice or a related field may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 1 year).
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six months of entry into the position.

Responsabilidades

• Plan, coordinate and direct the actions of security staff and oversee custody and control of inmates.
• Assume primary responsibility for security for all buildings and public property.
• Conduct routine checks to ensure duties are performed safely and OSHA standards are met.
• Assist with inmate counts for accuracy.
• Investigate complaints and violations; arbitrate disputes among inmates and staff.
