Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a Security Supervisor to plan, coordinate, and direct security staff, and oversee inmate custody in a medium/maximum facility. You will ensure building security, public property protection, and compliance with OSHA standards.

You will conduct routine unit checks, assist with inmate counts, and investigate complaints while arbitrating disputes between inmates and staff. Training and certification are required after hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and relevant experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree may substitute for the required experience.
• Degree in criminal justice or related field may substitute for supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and direct security staff and oversee inmate custody.
• Ensure security of buildings and public property.
• Perform routine unit checks for safety, OSHA standards and staff performance.
• Assist with inmate counts for accuracy.
• Investigate complaints and arbitrate inmate-staff disputes.
