Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma and relevant experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
• SCDC training academy certification and completion of the basic supervisory course within six months of entry are required.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of officers and inmates, providing direction in discipline, safety, security, and rehabilitation.
• Assist the Lieutenant in evaluating officer performance and supervise subordinate officers.
• Review incident reports written by officers and counsel staff on duty requirements.
• Investigate inmate complaints and take appropriate action; counsel inmates as required.
• Monitor inmate movement within the institution.
• Perform essential and marginal duties of an officer and other related duties as assigned by the shift supervisor.
