Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a Corrections Supervisor to plan, coordinate, and direct security staff across medium/maximum security facilities. You will oversee inmate custody and ensure safety, cleanliness, and OSHA standards are maintained.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 3 years of relevant experience with at least 1 year in supervision, and the possibility of degree substitution for supervisory time. Completion of SCDC Basic Training is necessary upon hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required with 3 years of relevant experience (correctional, security, military, or police).
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience is required.
• Degree in criminal justice or related field may substitute for supervisory experience year-for-year.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and direct security staff to oversee inmate custody and control.
• Oversee security for all buildings and public property.
• Conduct routine unit checks to ensure staff perform duties safely and OSHA standards are met.
• Assist with inmate counts for accuracy.
• Investigate complaints and disputes, arbitrate between inmates and staff.

Education

Three years experience in correctional/security/military/police including one year supervisory
