Job summary

Washington Gas is seeking an experienced accounting professional to record and analyze transactions for GAAP reporting, and to assist the Corporate Accounting Manager with new processes and general ledger infrastructure. The role includes maintaining GL accounts and supporting the month-end close, with emphasis on accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business discipline is required.
• 5+ Years of related business experience.
• GAAP/FASB and SOX compliance and SEC regulations familiarity.
• Demonstrated use of technology to improve process efficiency.
• Advanced Excel proficiency and data analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and analyze transactions for GAAP reporting.
• Assist with developing new general ledger infrastructure and processes.
• Support monthly close processes and analyze financial statements and variances.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform analytical procedures.
• Assist in consolidations, eliminations, and various journal entries.
• Ensure compliance with Sarbanes–Oxley requirements and internal controls.
