Job summary

AltaGas is seeking a seasoned Accountant to record and analyze transactions for financial reporting under GAAP. You will assist the Corporate Accounting Manager with new processes, GL infrastructure, and reconciliations across non-utility activities.

The role supports monthly close, consolidations, and audits, ensures SOX and SEC compliance, and works with PeopleSoft Financial modules and Power Plant assets. Strong Excel skills and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline is required.
• 5+ Years of related business experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP/FASB, SOX compliance, SEC regulations; ability to improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Record day-to-day accounting for non-utility activities.
• Support monthly close and analyze variances.
• Prepare eliminations and consolidation entries for balance sheet and income statement.
• Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and assist audits.
• Record revenue and cost accounts for power & gas segments; coordinate with operations.
