Job summary

Modigent is seeking a Controls Technician III to operate as a journeyman-level expert in commercial building automation and controls. You will lead complex service calls, perform advanced diagnostics, and mentor junior technicians across HVAC-integrated systems.

This senior field role emphasizes technical mastery, safety leadership, and delivering energy-efficient controls solutions in commercial and industrial environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive hands-on experience in building automation/controls installation, startup, troubleshooting, and service.
• EPA Section 608 certification (Universal) required
• Valid driver’s license with clean record
• NATE certification or manufacturer-specific training preferred
• OSHA 30-hour certification encouraged

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex building automation systems (DDC controls, sensors, actuators) and integration with HVAC equipment.
• Perform advanced startups, functional testing, system balancing, calibration, and commissioning per specs.
• Lead full service and retrofit calls from start to finish, coordinating parts and communication with customers.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and energy-efficiency assessments to reduce downtime and improve performance.
• Ensure all work complies with EPA regulations, codes, manufacturer specs, and company safety standards.
• Document service activities thoroughly and maintain accurate records.
