Job summary

Modigent Company is seeking an entry-level Controls Technician I to support installation, startup, and maintenance of DDC systems in commercial settings. You’ll learn from journeymen, gain hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, and integration with HVAC equipment, and grow toward more advanced controls roles.

You’ll engage in structured training, participate in safety briefings, and contribute to safer, energy-efficient building operations across nationwide projects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical training in HVAC/controls preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record; OSHA 10-hour certification encouraged.
  • 0–3 years in construction, labor, mechanical, electrical, facilities maintenance, or related field; eager to learn and safety-focused.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks; climb ladders/scaffolding/at heights.
  • Willingness to travel regionally as needed and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with installation, wiring, termination, and startup of building automation systems and HVAC controls.
  • Support basic troubleshooting, calibration, and preventive maintenance under guidance.
  • Read blueprints, schematics, and operation sequences to execute work accurately.
  • Prepare tools/parts, document findings, take photos, and enter basic work orders.
  • Maintain clean work areas and organize tools and equipment.
