Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller Design Group is seeking a Controls Engineer in Greenville, SC to join a team of industry experts delivering automation solutions for leading manufacturers. You will develop and commission control systems, program PLCs/HMIs, and collaborate with clients and vendors to ensure project success.

The role requires hands-on experience with automation projects, strong documentation skills, and willingness to travel for site work and start-up activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years in controls engineering for automated processes or system integration in manufacturing.
• Experience designing automation control systems (PLC, SCADA).
• Solid understanding of industrial control panel design and fabrication (UL508A).
• Experience with field instrumentation, control system installation, and configuration.

Responsibilities

• Develop automation solutions and participate in automation project phases including design specs, software configuration, testing, commissioning and start-up of high-speed manufacturing processes.
• Design automation control systems and create project documentation and drawings to meet client requirements.
• Diagnose automation problems and interface with teams, clients and vendors.
• Program PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Rockwell) and HMIs/SCADAs (FactoryTalk, Cimplicity, Wonderware, Ignition).
• Communicate progress to stakeholders and manage project deliverables to schedule and scope.
