Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller’s Design Group seeks a Sr. Controls Engineer to design and implement automation for high-speed manufacturing lines across multiple industries. You will lead projects, develop control system specifications, and supervise commissioning and startup activities.

The role requires seven+ years of automation experience, proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMI/SCADA, and strong client-facing communication. Occasional travel and collaboration with cross-functional teams are expected.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of related automation experience with HMI/SCADA/PLCs.
• Experience in consumer products, life sciences, or beverage/food industries preferred.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and PanelView HMIs; strong networking knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design automation control systems and develop specs, docs, and drawings for high-speed manufacturing processes.
• Lead software configuration, testing, commissioning, installation, and startup of automation projects.
• Oversee project execution including team leadership, SCADA design, PLC/HMI programming, and site startup support.
• Maintain and grow client relationships and provide cross-functional collaboration.
• Troubleshoot packaging lines and process/software systems and handle multiple projects with limited supervision.
• Contribute to business development and project delivery with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
