Job summary

Barry-Wehmhillier Design Group is seeking a Sr. Controls Engineer to join our control system integration team. You will design automation systems, program PLCs/HMI, and manage start-up activities for high-speed manufacturing projects in diverse industries.

You will collaborate with industry experts, contribute to project leadership, and travel as needed for installation and client meetings, while upholding our standards of quality and client service.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of automation experience with DCS, HMI, SCADA, PLCs and control system design.
• Experience in consumer products, life sciences, or beverage/food industries preferred.
• Proficient with Rockwell Automation hardware and Rockwell PLC families; PanelView HMIs.
• Knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet, DeviceNet, DH+/DH+) and software suites listed.
• Strong communication, project leadership, and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Design automation control systems and develop specs, documents, and drawings for high-speed manufacturing processes.
• Lead or participate in software configuration, testing, commissioning, installation, and start-up phases.
• Own project execution including team leadership, SCADA, PLC/HMI programming, and site start-up support.
• Maintain and grow solid client relationships and provide troubleshooting across packaging lines and process systems.
• Balance multiple project responsibilities with minimal supervision and deliver quality results.
