Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller Design Group in the United States is seeking a seasoned Controls Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering integrated automation for manufacturing clients. You will work with Rockwell and Siemens platforms, design control systems, and drive commissioning from design through start-up.

The role requires hands-on PLC/SCADA programming, instrumentation know-how, and strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

Three years of direct experience as a controls engineer in automated manufacturing.
Experience designing automation control systems (PLC, SCADA).
Strong knowledge of industrial control panel design and UL508A.
Instrumentation and controls (I&C) expertise.
Experience with field instrumentation and control system installation.
Familiarity with machine safety, electrical power distribution, and panel design.
Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to present to stakeholders.
Willingness to travel for installation and commissioning.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical engineering or similar.

Responsibilities

Support capital projects and implement client solutions.
Help clients improve performance and achieve goals.
Develop automation solutions and participate in design, software config, testing, commissioning, and start-up.
Design automation control systems and produce project documentation.
Diagnose automation problems.
Interface with teams, clients, and vendors.
Program PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Rockwell).
Program HMI/SCADA (FactoryTalk, Cimplicity, Wonderware, Ignition).
Validate and commission systems and handover to the customer.
Travel as needed for project requirements.
