Job summary

Raytheon is seeking an expert controls systems engineer for the Precision Control Actuation System (PCAS) team in Tucson, AZ. The role focuses on development, build, and verification of actuation control systems for missiles and air vehicles.

Location options include Tucson, AZ or Huntsville, AL, and the role requires an active DoD Secret clearance. Responsibilities include designing control architectures, implementing control laws, testing, and model validation.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree with 5+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years experience.
• 5 years of experience in air vehicle or missile flight actuation control design and/or analysis.

Responsibilities

• Provide controls engineering support as program needs fluctuate; develop flight actuation control system architectures and implement advanced control laws.
• Flex responsibilities based on current organization needs and skill sets.
• Autonomous work with periodic oversight; deep knowledge of air vehicle gear train dynamics and flight motor control, advanced control techniques, sensors, and communications; analyze missile servo performance.
• Develop high fidelity motor and gear train models with nonlinearities and temperature effects.
• Develop and execute test plans to verify performance and anchor models.
