Job summary

Sammons Industrial, part of the Sammons family, seeks a Sr. Controls/Automation Engineer to lead controls engineering across multiple projects. You will guide design, PLC/HMI programming, testing, and go‑live while ensuring safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

You will collaborate with sales, PMs, software, and installation teams, mentoring engineers and reviewing designs. The role supports on-site work at customer locations in the Dallas–Fort Worth area with travel as needed.

Qualifications

7+ years in controls engineering, preferably in conveyor systems, material handling, or warehouse automation.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
Proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMI systems, and AutoCAD; experience in barcode scanning and high-speed sortation.

Responsibilities

Lead controls engineering across multiple projects from design to commissioning and go-live, prioritizing safety, quality, and customer needs.
Partner with sales, PMs, software engineers, and installation teams to ensure integrated, reliable systems.
Mentor engineers, oversee subcontractors, review designs and scopes to reduce risk and meet commitments.
Shape engineering standards and processes to improve system reliability and team effectiveness.
