Job summary

Design Group is seeking a Sr. Controls Engineer to join our Control System Integration Practice in Fort Worth, TX. You will lead automation projects, design control systems, and implement SCADA/PLC/HMI solutions for major clients, ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery.

You will collaborate with senior engineers and domain experts, travel up to 40% for installations and client meetings, and mentor junior staff as part of a dynamic, growth-focused team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of automation experience with HMI, SCADA, PLCs and control system design.
• Packaging and process controls experience in consumer products, life sciences, or beverage/food industries preferred.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, PanelView HMIs, and industrial networks.
• Familiarity with FactoryTalk Suite, IntellutionSuite, Wonderware Suite, and VB/C#/Java preferred.
• Engineering consulting experience preferred.
• Strong client interaction and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel 40%+ year over year.
• Bachelor of science in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering or related degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design automation control systems; develop project specifications, documentation, and drawings for high-speed and other automated manufacturing processes.
• Lead or participate in software configuration, testing, commissioning, installation, and start-up phases.
• Take accountability for project execution including team leadership, SCADA design, PLC/HMI programming, and site start-up support.
• Maintain and grow solid client relationships.
• Troubleshoot packaging lines, process systems, and software systems.
• Manage multiple project responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Impact project outcomes and client relationships through your expertise and leadership.
