Job summary

Samson Rose is seeking a Director of Automation & Controls Engineering to lead the development and scaling of its industrial automation organization in Southern California. The role oversees electrical systems, PLCs, HMI, SCADA, motion control, robotics, and factory data infrastructure, guiding projects from requirements through commissioning and production validation.

You will build and mentor teams, establish scalable architectures, and drive a roadmap for multi-factory expansion with focus on

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Controls/Mechatronics/Robotics/CE or related field.
10+ years in industrial automation, controls or robotics.
Experience leading engineering teams on complex automation programs.
Strong background in hardware and software controls including electrical systems and safety.

Responsibilities

Lead complex automation and capital equipment programs from requirements to production release.
Establish reusable controls architectures and factory SCADA/data systems.
Balance new development with sustaining engineering and reliability improvements.
Define technical roadmap for industrial robotics and autonomous manufacturing.
Hire and develop engineers and engineering managers; build scalable teams.
Set project priorities, resources, processes, and accountability.
Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, R&D and operations to deliver reliable systems.
Drive continuous improvement in equipment performance and maintenance.
