Job summary

Sammons Industrial in the Dallas–Fort Worth area is seeking a Sr. Controls/Automation Engineer to lead the controls engineering for complex automation projects. You will design architectures, program PLC/HMI, commission systems, and guide teams on go-lives at customer sites.

The role requires 7+ years in controls, a BS in Electrical Engineering, proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLCs and AutoCAD, plus experience with WCS/WES/WMS. Travel up to 25% and on-site work at Mansfield, TX are standard.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in controls engineering, ideally in conveyors, material handling, or warehouse automation.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMI systems, and AutoCAD.
• Experience with WCS, WES, or WMS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls engineering across multiple projects from system design to commissioning and go-live.
• Partner with sales, PMs, software, installation teams, and customers to solve challenges and ensure systems work together.
• Mentor engineers, guide internal teams, and oversee subcontracted automation partners.
• Improve engineering standards and processes to deliver reliable, safe solutions.
