Job summary

Spreedly, the world’s leading Open Payments Platform, is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function from our Durham, NC headquarters. You’ll own the books, close, and financial reporting across a usage-based SaaS model, partnering with FP&A and cross-functional leaders.

You’ll modernize our finance stack (NetSuite, Orb, Ramp), drive automation and AI-enabled workflows, and scale controls for growth. CPA is required, with experience managing a broad accounting remit in SaaS.

Qualifications

• CPA certification required.
• Experience leading an accounting function.
• Proven track record in SaaS accounting and revenue recognition.

Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting function with accurate books and timely close.
• Oversee AR, AP, payroll, revenue recognition, treasury, tax, and audit.
• Own and improve the accounting systems stack (NetSuite, Orb, Ramp).
• Implement automation and AI-enabled processes to reduce manual work.
• Build scalable processes and SOC 2/audit readiness.
• Navigate usage-based contracts and ASC 606 impacts.
• Lead and develop the accounting team and reporting structure.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Legal, Revenue Operations, and Sales.
