Job summary

A growing energy company seeking a Controller to own accounting end-to-end, build systems, controls and reporting as it scales from pilot to commercial. You will run the close, establish the COA, policies, and lead a growing team while ensuring audit readiness and tight financial controls.

Lead NetSuite administration and scale it with project activity, manage procurement accounting, and collaborate with auditors, tax preparers, and regulators to support project financing and compliance.

Qualifications

• Progressive accounting experience of a decade or more with at least 2 years as Controller or Assistant Controller at a publicly traded company.
• Active CPA license and SEC filing experience (10-K/10-Q).
• Background in a regulated, capital-project environment (construction, energy, defense, nuclear).
• Hands-on NetSuite depth with configuration, optimization, and scaling.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, budgets, procurement accounting and SOX controls.

Responsibilities

• Own the full close: journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end reporting.
• Define COA, cost-coding structure, and accounting policies.
• Build and lead a growing accounting team.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and internal controls for a regulated industry.
• Administer and scale NetSuite as project activity grows.
• Manage procurement accounting controls and cost allocations.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax preparers, and regulators.
• Support project financing, bonding, and insurance through organized financial docs.
• Continuously improve accounting policies and procedures as the company scales.
