Job summary

Yazio, a leading nutrition app, seeks a Senior Controller to own the controlling function and close processes as we scale. You will set the standard for accounting design and internal controls, collaborating with FP&A, Legal, Operations and external partners.

This role is 100% remote and open to candidates in Germany, Spain, Portugal, or the U.K., shaping finance architecture for years ahead.

Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on experience in Accounting, Controlling or Financial Reporting.
• Experience leading or coordinating a small accounting team.
• In-depth knowledge of German HGB; IFRS exposure is a plus.
• Proven ownership of the full monthly close cycle.
• Strong internal controls mindset and risk identification.
• Familiarity with DATEV and accounting systems.
• Comfort with AI tools for analysis while maintaining judgment.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the monthly close end-to-end, ensuring fast and accurate financial reporting.
• Review accruals, cut-off entries, reconciliations and reporting packages.
• Act as the primary go-to for technical accounting topics and new business models.
• Develop and maintain technical accounting documentation (revenue recognition, leases, etc.).
• Coordinate with external partners including accountants, tax advisors and auditors.
• Strengthen internal controls and drive process improvements.
• Drive automation and scalable workflows across finance functions.
• Leverage AI tools for analysis and audit preparation with rigorous review.
