Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an experienced finance professional to oversee accounting operations for large construction projects in San Antonio, with complex contracts, joint ventures, and national clients. You will lead financial reporting, internal controls, and advisory support to project teams to ensure profitability and risk management.

You will design procedures, manage audits, and coordinate with client finance teams to optimize cash flow and billing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from accredited program in Accounting, Finance, or related field with minimum of 4 years of related experience.
• Construction industry experience is desired but not required.
• Advanced knowledge of Finance policies and GAAP concepts (e.g., journal entries, general ledger).
• Familiarity with G&A cost allocation, budgeting, and forecasting methods in construction office operations.
• Knowledge of Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable best practices (invoice resolution, vendor/customer accounts).
• Experience as supervisor/team lead with ability to influence without authority.
• Ability to manage competing activities and short-cycle deadlines.
• Analytical ability to review financial data, identify risks, and recognize trends.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and oversee procedures supporting accounting operations for complex construction projects.
• Maintain and update project-specific training materials for accounting staff.
• Communicate financial strategies and project performance to Finance and project management teams.
• Provide guidance on client contract analysis, billing terms, and approved billing rates.
• Implement and enforce internal controls to ensure A/P and A/R accuracy and compliance.
• Strengthen segregation of duties and approval workflows per SAAM; review access and documentation.
• Direct audit processes for client billing and project ledgers to GAAP compliance.
• Oversee revenue recognition and job cost accounting for complex arrangements (e.g., joint ventures).
• Manage month-end close activities to support accurate owner invoicing and expense recognition.
