Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare detailed project estimates from drawings and specs. You will lead bid preparation for multiple contract types and manage document flow with the design team, client, and trade partners.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3 years of related experience, strong reading of contract documents, and proficiency with MS Office and estimating software. Limited travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 3 years of related experience.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates including quantity take-offs, analysis, and studies for assigned scope.
• Prepare and assemble bids for Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus contracts.
• Lead document management: receive drawings/specifications, file structure, distribution.
• Act as liaison with trade partners, design team, and client; manage trade partner communications.
• Support constructability reviews with project team, designers, and trades.
• Develop value analysis studies to define cost-efficient alternatives.
• Understand contract documents, site logistics, schedule, coordination, means and methods.
• Prepare scope requisitions for trades; coordinate to eliminate gaps/overlaps.
• Prepare comparison analyses to previous estimates for assigned scope.
• Evaluate trade partner proposals and participate in post-bid review.
• Supervise Assistant Estimators and Estimating Interns.
