Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Austin, TX is seeking an estimator to prepare detailed project estimates based on drawings and specifications. You will lead bid preparation for Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus contracts, and coordinate with trade partners, design teams, and clients to ensure accurate scopes and timely submissions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3 years of related experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency with estimating software and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Building construction knowledge and understanding of trade practices
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule
• Knowledge of estimating documents and ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimate including quantity take-offs, analysis, estimate input, and studies for assigned scope
• Prepare and assemble bids and proposals for Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus contracts
• Lead document management for project and distribute to stakeholders
• Serve as liaison with Trade partners, Design team, and client; manage trade partners
• Support constructability reviews through project team collaboration
• Develop value analysis studies to propose cost-efficient alternatives
• Understand factors for trade package scope including documents, site logistics, schedule, and methods
• Prepare scope requisitions for trades and identify scope gaps
• Prepare comparison analysis to prior estimates for assigned scope
• Evaluate trade partner proposals and participate in Post Bid Review
• Manage post-bid items and advise on bid awards
• Supervise Assistant Estimators and Estimating Interns
