Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Configuration Analyst to lead software configuration management and release engineering across VA projects. You will migrate applications to the cloud, develop CM tools, and standardize build processes while guiding junior engineers.

The role requires extensive CM/DevOps experience in regulated environments, strong scripting and collaboration skills, and the ability to work autonomously on multiple priorities in a remote 100% U.S.-based setting.

Qualifications

• Experience leading complex software builds and releases across multiple environments.
• Experience in regulated or federal environments.
• Deep CM and release engineering expertise.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Proficiency with CM practices (identification, baselining, change control, status accounting).
• Experience with source control systems and branching/merging strategies.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and artifact repositories.
• Scripting for automation in Bash/PowerShell/Python.
• Experience with COTS software management and environment management.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting and delivery of software products.
• Perform CM and release tasks to document and standardize build parameters and configurations.
• Design and automate productivity tools to improve modeling and development.
• Create build procedures to support product development and use.
• Develop CM standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality practices.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems.
• Operate autonomously and meet deadlines across projects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and mentor junior analysts/engineers.
