Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Configuration Analyst to support VA applications and lead the migration to the cloud. The role focuses on building and maintaining CM tools, establishing standards, and guiding developers in CM practices.

The ideal candidate has deep CM expertise, experience in regulated environments, and strong collaboration skills to work with internal and external stakeholders. This is a 100% U.S.-based remote position with US citizenship required.

Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering complex software builds and releases across environments.
• Experience in large regulated enterprises or federal environments.
• Deep expertise in configuration management and release engineering.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Experience with CM practices: identification, baselining, change control, status accounting.
• Experience with source control and branching/merging.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and artifact repositories.
• Scripting for automation in Bash/PowerShell/Python.
• Familiarity with COTS software management and vendor patches.
• Knowledge of IaC and environment management (Ansible, Terraform).
• Understanding of software quality standards and governance.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, and delivery of software and COTS products.
• Perform CM and release engineering tasks and ensure compliant build parameters.
• Design, develop, and automate tools to improve software modeling and development.
• Create and implement build procedures to support product development.
• Develop software CM standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality standards.
• Provide technical guidance for complex problems.
• Operate autonomously and make sound decisions.
• Ensure repeatable build and deployment processes across projects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and mentor junior analysts/engineers.
