Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Configuration Analyst - II to lead software configuration management and release engineering across VA-related projects. The role emphasizes CM tooling, automated build processes, and cloud migration within regulated environments.

The candidate will train teams, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure scalable, compliant deployment practices while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading complex software builds and releases.
• Experience in large regulated or federal environments.
• Deep CM and release engineering expertise.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Experience with CM practices: identification, baselining, change control, status accounting.
• Familiarity with multiple source control systems and branching/merging strategies.
• Hands-on with CI/CD tools and artifact repositories.
• Experience scripting for automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
• Experience managing COTS software and patches.
• Knowledge of IaC and environment management (Ansible, Terraform).
• Ability to train developers on CM tools and quality practices.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software and COTS products.
• Perform CM and release tasks with compliant, repeatable builds.
• Design, develop, and automate productivity tools for software modeling and development.
• Create build procedures to support product development and use.
• Develop company-wide CM standards.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality practices.
• Provide technical guidance for complex problems.
• Operate autonomously and make sound decisions.
• Ensure compliant build and deployment processes across projects.
• Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders.
• Lead and mentor junior analysts/engineers in CM.
