Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Configuration Analyst - II to lead software configuration management and release engineering efforts. The role supports VA applications, migrates to the cloud, and builds CM tools for identification, control, and deployment across multiple environments.

The ideal candidate has deep CM expertise, strong scripting abilities, and experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code. This remote, U.S.-based position requires a public trust clearance.

Qualifications

• A proven track record of leading and delivering complex software builds and releases across multiple environments.
• Experience in large, regulated enterprises or federal environments.
• Deep expertise in software configuration management and release engineering.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Experience with CM practices: identification, baselining, change control, status accounting.
• Experience with various source control and branching/merging strategies.
• Strong scripting skills for automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
• Experience managing COTS software, vendor patches, and version control.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code and environment management (Ansible, Terraform).
• Understanding of software quality standards, governance, and training developers on CM tools.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software and COTS products.
• Perform CM and release tasks to document and align with hardware configurations and logistics.
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools for software modeling and development.
• Design and implement build procedures for software product development and use.
• Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality practices; mentor junior staff.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems; collaborate with stakeholders.
